Popover pizza sounds weird but it really is good. You are baking this upside down and when you serve it you will flip it over.
This is such a fun recipe to do with your kids they will love it.
Pop-Over Pizza
1 Lb. ground beef
1 large onion chopped
1 envelope Spaghetti sauce mix (1 1/2 oz)
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1 pkg. (8 oz) sliced mozzarella cheese
Pop-Over Batter
2 large eggs
1 Tbsp. oil
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Brown beef with onions in a large skillet, stir to crumble: pour off excess fat. Add contents of sauce envelope, tomato sauce and water; simmer 10 minutes.Prepare pop-over batter while meat mix is simmering. beat together eggs, milk and oil. Add flour and salt then beat until smooth. Spoon meat mixture into greased 13 X 9 baking dish. Top with mozzarella cheese. Pour batter over hot pizza filling and cover completely. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
When serving cut into squares and as you go to put it on the plate flip it over.
(You can add bell peppers, bacon, mushrooms....what ever you want in it.)
The top pops up while it cooks which makes it a fun for kids watch.
Cute pizza variation! I'm trying it this week!
